Navy is the new black
From the set to the designs, Dior’s FW17 show was all blue. The almost all navy collection was simple and feminine, and we think the colour is going to be everywhere this fall. In the words of Christian Dior himself, “Among all the colours, navy blue is the only one which can ever compete with black, it has all the same qualities.”
Givenchy’s FW17 collection was, interestingly, all red. But subtle red details seemed to be more of a consistent theme throughout other shows during fashion month. Alexander McQueen’s FW17 collection had red stitching, thread and laces running through and draping from several of its designs. We love the trend as a simple addition to an all black outfit.
Camel, Mustard and earthy tones
Earthy tones seem to have been prevalent throughout several collections over recent years, and it doesn’t look as though the trend will be coming to an end this fall. APC and Stella McCartney both showed a number of camel designs in their FW17 shows, and Rick Owens had its usual neutral palette seen in previous collections.
All in denim
With the trend of blue and navy has also came double denim, which we think can look amazing, when done right. It was all over the catwalk this season – from all denim jumpsuits at APC and Christian Dior to cropped jackets at Off-White and all denim co-ordinates at Stella McCartney. We love the look!
